GABRIELA HEARST LONDON STORE
Gabriela Hearst’s first international flagship, and second retail store, is located in London’s Mayfair neighbourhood, directly across the street from the iconic Claridge’s Hotel. The store, designed in collaboration between Gabriela Hearst and architect Lord Norman Foster, represents the brand’s commitment to sustainable design, and shares a core design sensibility with the New York flagship store.
The material palette comprises natural materials: blond wood, marble, non-toxic vegetable-dyed leather, linen, and cashmere wool. Rounded edges feature throughout, from the furniture to the moulded Art Deco ceilings, to recall the organic forms of nature. The oak herringbone parquet floor is made from wood reclaimed from the Copthorne Barracks in Shrewsbury, England, a heritage reflected in the antique porcelain soldiers and military drums used in the space.
The 2,000-square-foot bi-level store houses the Gabriela Hearst women’s, men’s, accessories and jewellery collections. The ground floor includes Throne Lounge Chair and Throne Sofa designed by Autoban and crafted by De La Espada as well as a bench customised from the Throne series. The lower level seating area for private client appointments features Belle Reeve Sofa designed by Luca Nichetto and crafted by De La Espada.
